  • Flagstaff was designated the First International Dark Sky Place in 2001 by the International Dark Sky Association. A Dark Sky Place is a community that commits to preserving the Dark Sky via both policy and practice through the Dark Sky Movement. Having a Dark Sky is important for astronomical research, ecology, and even the human circadian rhythm! Learn more about the Dark Sky movement at darksky.org and lowell.edu/discover/dark-skies/.

  • Dark Sky Community, or DSC, is the non-profit of Dark Sky Brewing. DSB launched the nonprofit organization to create a launch pad for giving back to the community that has supported them since inception. In our first year, 2014, Dark Sky Community fundraising directly donated over $250,000. We cannot keep doing that without the support of people like you. So far we have raised and donated over $150,000 directly to local organizations like: Creative Flagstaff, Lowell Observatory, The Arboretum, Flagstaff Bike Trails, High Country Humane, Mountain Girl Dog Rescue, the Eric Marsh Foundation, SanFund Foundation, and Arizona Brain Food. All the money DSC raises is immediately put to use in the community. The best part about supporting Dark Sky Community, is that your dollar goes further, it supports multiple charities that need it, but may not have all the exposure or capacity to access the funds needed; and that is where DSC comes in. Please follow us at @DSCfundraising for more information about our events!
